The Montgomery County Hospital District (MCHD) identified significant shortcomings in their legacy ERP system, including outdated functionality, lack of scalability, and limited support for their rapidly expanding operations. The business challenge
This project presented unique challenges due to the distinct ERP requirements of a hospital district compared to a local city government. MCHD required capabilities such as monthly budget reporting and adherence to stringent healthcare compliance standards, all while maintaining operational efficiency. Additionally, their legacy vendor as not providing them with robust support and the system lacked the flexibility to scale or support modern business practices.
Another critical challenge was ensuring that the selected ERP solution could seamlessly integrate with existing systems, such as those used for payroll, fleet management, and the EMS billing platform, while also enabling enhanced financial oversight.
Strategy and solution
Sciens conducted a comprehensive assessment of MCHD’s processes to identify operational gaps and inefficiencies. Through this analysis, Sciens worked closely with MCHD to ensure all functional requirements were captured in detail. This enabled the creation of a tailored Request for Proposal (RFP) that addressed the Hospital District's specific needs, including compliance with regulations, integration with District systems, and enhanced reporting tools. From this, Sciens assisted the MCHD to select and negotiate the contract for their new ERP vendor currently being implemented.
